Pull da lever!

I hurt myself today
To see if i still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But i remember everything
What have i become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone i know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of shit
On my liar’s chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feeling disappears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have i become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone i know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If i could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

In an attempt to thwart further punishment for having dogs fight other dogs, Mike Vick has come up with a new strategy. Dogs fighting… themselves. The evidence: ![]()
host: the guests on our show today are idiot drivers, and the pirates who would like to see them walk the plank (so to speak). our first guest is “stupid woman land rover driver,” and our second guest is “yetuc the pirate.” Welcome!
swlrd: hi
yetuc: arrrgh!
host: so, what brings you hear today swlrd?
swlrd: well, i think it is because i’m stupid, have no regard for others, and have my head too far up my butt to see where i’m driving.
host: and what about you yetuc?
yetuc: arrr, swlrd was right, because she is too brain damaged to be allowed a driver’s license i’ve decided she needs to “walk the plank”!!
host: what could swlrd possibly have done to deserve such punishment?
yetuc: it all started when i set sail for work this morning. as everyone knows there are two lanes leaving the harbor, one port and one starboard. i was in the port lane waiting for the winds to pick-up enough to move me into open waters, i had looked back and noticed another ship just pulling out from the pier. just as i had spotted a good wind and was preparing to go, the other ship pulls into the starboard lane, the pulls out in front of me and sat there waiting for the right gust of wind. my blood, it was a boilin’.
host: what do you have to say in response swlrd?
swlrd: how could this possibly be my fault?? you can’t possibly expect me to wait half a minute for this pirate to pull out!! i simply am too important to wait that long.
host: when we return you, the audience, will decide whether or not yetuc the pirate has a vaild complaint and shall be allowed to make swlrd “walk the plank”……
If any of you were around when IRC was huge, this will make perfect sense to you. It’s funny how true this is on so many levels. For those of you who are too young to get it, wow… you’re a wee little one. I know LP will love this one.
Thanks to Roode for bringing this to my attention some time back. I’ve been really bad about not posting things people send me. It isn’t personal. I’m just lazy. So keep the ideas for posts coming.

In an effort to make the world come to an end, I post two substantive posts two days in a row.
Today’s post is to generate discussion:
Question: What do you think of reading for fun?
I know it seems like a silly question, but not everyone enjoys reading for fun. They read the news (maybe), they read stuff at work, but never a novel for fun. If you enjoy reading for fun, what do you think made you start? If you don’t, why not? No judgements in the thread, please, everyone has their own hobbies.
Personally I think it was my sister. She was much older than I was, and she spent a lot of time at the library. She would normally ‘let’ me come along, as long as I didn’t run around and sat and read books. She didn’t make any judgements about the kind of books I read (even though she wasn’t a big fan of the sci-fi/fantasy that I developed an eye for). But as I got older (about 8 years old) she started weaning me off of the juvenille fiction. Originally it was 1 book out of 4 I got should be adult fiction. Then 2, 3, and finally 4. By the time I was 10, in a 2 and a half-hour trip to the library, I could find my adult fiction books to check out in about 20 minutes, and then spend the rest of the time reading 3 or 4 juvenille fiction books.
It wasn’t until I got to college that I found out that my reading speed was faster than normal. I’d be able to do the reading for classes, and still finish a Robert Jordan book in 2-3 days. I do have to say that reading is probably my favorite pastime. Even as much as I play games, most of the time, there’s a book right by my hand so that when I have to heal or on long loading times, I can read my book.
So how about you guys?
